DECADES OF EXPERIENCE HELPING PEOPLE

The Law Offices of Scott M. Annes opened in April of 1992.  Since its beginnings the firm has handled a great many cases in a diverse number of practice areas.  The firm's concentration has predominantly focused on assisting small businesses and individuals with various aspects of contract law. Specifically, the firm has helped clients with all manners of transactions including the purchase and sale of commercial and residential real estate as well as contract formation, negotiation, litigation and a whole host of related services.  Scott has taken extraordinary pride in helping new business ventures get started and in helping current businesses to prosper.

A General Practice

Performing services for operators of small businesses has also resulted in Scott handling a great many issues outside of business.  In helping business clients over the years, the firm has also handled the personal legal issues faced by the owners of those businesses.  Being a “General Practice” the firm services as many individuals as it does small and moderate sized businesses.  The firm customarily handles: purchases and sales of real estate,  bankruptcy and consumer credit issues, family law matters, traffic matters, drafting of wills and trusts, estate issues, and all forms of litigation.

TRIAL AND APPELLATE LITIGATION EXPERIENCE

With over twenty years litigation experience to draw upon, Scott has handled matters in the Illinois state courts, appellate courts and the Federal Court.  He has tried cases in the Wisconsin state court on a sponsorship pro hoc vice.  Scott’s success in the appellate courts is documented back to 1993 in the case: In re Estate of Ciesiolkiewicz, 243 Ill. App.3d 506, 611 N.E.2d 1278(1st Dist. 1993).  He successfully had opinions reversed in three Second District Appellate Court cases:  Greenbrook West Recreational Association v. Crouch 2nd District Appellate Court Opinion: 2-01-0984  and  Essick v. Horizon Management,  2nd District Appellate Court Opinion: 2 - 01 - 0118.  More recently, Scott successfully appealed the decision in: In re Application of the County Collector, 343 Ill. App.3d 363, 797 N.E.2d 1122 (2nd Dist. 2003).

Scott has acquired trial and appellate experience well beyond that of many of his peers having been in solo practice since 1992.
